Phil Clemens Honored for Excellence in Industry

Phil Clemens, Chairman and CEO of The Clemens Family Corporation and former President of Hatfield Quality Meats (1995 – 2000), recently received two prestigious awards recognizing his achievements in the meat and agriculture industry.

On October 31, at an awards presentation in Chicago, IL, Phil was awarded the 2007 Knowlton Award by Meatingplace Magazine. The prestigious Knowlton Award honors excellence in the U.S. meat industry in the areas of innovation, business success, leadership, and industry contributions. Phil was presented this award for his legacy of industry contributions in the areas of food safety, animal handling, water conservation, and financial performance.

On November 13, at a presentation during a session in the PA House of Representatives Chamber, Phil was awarded an honorable Citation for excellence in the industry on the state level. Speaker of the PA House of Representatives John M. Perzel, and State Representative Bob Godshall presented Phil with the Citation, thanking him for his long-time commitment to Pennsylvania agriculture, his excellence of leadership in Pennsylvania industry, and his longstanding commitment to the community.

“I do not view these awards as recognition for personal achievement,” said Phil, “but rather as recognition for how our entire Hatfield Quality Meats team has performed over many years.” Phil attributed the success of the business to its strong commitment to Christian values in the way it does business. “It’s a tough vision to carry out in the 21st Century, but it reflects who we are as a family. Or family aspires to do business the right way.”
